Rugs & Floor Coverings

Vacuum regularly. Weekly vacuuming will reduce the effect of excess pile. Wool rugs will naturally shed excess pile during the first three months (or more depending on use). For jute and coir rugs the best care is regular vacuuming.
Allow rugs to air – when new and after they are unpacked, they may have a strong smell. This is normal and will dissipate over time in a well-ventilated room.
Treat spots and stains promptly to prevent damage to the rug and to make cleaning easier.
Never rub a spill. Blot Liquids with a dry absorbent white cloth or white paper towel. Contact a rug cleaning specialist if the stain cannot be removed.
Cut loose threads carefully with scissors. Never pull.
Do not leave in direct sunlight - this can cause excessive fading.

Wall art or a mirror is the perfect way to finish decorating a room and these tips will help you to hang it safely.

Always lift art frames with two hands. If you lift with just one (like you are picking up a handbag), this can excessively stress & loosen the frame’s joints.
Consult a hardware store or picture hanger for advise on hanging. We do not supply hardware to mount as each wall and item are different. A hardware store or professional can provide advise on the best fixing to safely hang the item.
Never modify the hanging method supplied with the item. Doing this can compromise the strength of the fixings and cause the item to fall.

Make sure you have all the tools and equipment required. Ensure you have consulted a professional for advise on the right hardware to use for the wall type. If you need to find a wall stud then invest in a stud-finder.
Pencils, rulers and non-marking painter’s tape can help mark out the frame and measure the position of the hooks or string. A spirit level can make sure the frame is straight.
If you are renting, check what requirements the land-lord has before making any holes in their walls.
It always easier to have an extra person to help hanging especially if the mirror or art frame is heavy.
Measure thrice – drill once.
For wall art you should position it roughly at eye level.
Avoid hanging on walls where there is direct sun-light or moisture. Moisture can damage frames and sun-light can cause art to fade.
If you are grouping art, trial different layouts on the floor first. You can also trace out the frame size on plain paper, cut it and place on the wall with non-marring tape to see how the layout looks and rearrange easily.
If in doubt – engage a professional picture / mirror hanger. They will cost more but will take less time – especially if you are planning to hang a lot of pieces.

Depending on the items’ weight, it will determine the hanging methods. The two most popular are D-Rings and Cord.

D-Rings

Always hold the mirror on two sides with both hands.
D-Rings are normally used for heavy mirrors and art frames. They are strong if used correctly.
Only use the D-Rings supplied with the frame to hang it. Where the item has two D-Rings, use both.
NEVER use string, cord or wire between the D-Rings or modify the D-Rings in any way. They are not designed to be used this way. This may cause the item to fall off the wall.
Always hang using the D-Ring and appropriate wall fasteners.

Cord

Cord is a very traditional way to hang wall art. Generally, it is a thick nylon but might be supplied in a different material.
Only use the cord supplied with the frame to hang it. Do not add cord or modify in any way. This may weaken the cord or cause the item to fall off the wall.

Leaner Mirrors

Leaner mirrors are to be placed on the floor and leant against the wall. Leaner mirrors are generally quite heavy so if you are wanting to wall mount them should seek professional advice.
As wall types and materials vary, no screws or fixing hardware are supplied.
Only use the D-Rings supplied with the mirror to hang it. Where the item has two D-Rings, use both.
Do not add string, cord or wire between D-Rings or modify the D-Rings in any way. This may cause the item to fall off the wall.
Leaner mirrors are supplied with straps similar to those might see with our furniture. They are designed to secure the mirror to wall in case of accidental tip-over. Use strapping provided for added security when leaning against the wall.

Clocks

As wall types and materials vary, no fixing hardware is supplied. Consult a local hardware store for advise on this.
Use only the hanging method supplied with the clock to mount it to wall. Do not modify it (for instance by adding cord or rope).
Always use new, high quality batteries to power the clock. It is recommended to replace the batteries at least once a year to maintain accurate time keeping.
Never adjust the time by moving the hands with your fingers – this can damage the mechanism and hands. Always adjust the time using the winder on the back of the clock.

Timber Servingware - Timber is a natural material that will age with time and use. Timber is porous - some oils and dark coloured foods may stain. Periodically oil its surface with a food grade mineral oil. Hand wash in warm soapy water. Do not place in dishwasher. Do not soak. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight.

Matte Finish Dinnerware - Matte glazes are often hand finished. Sharp utensils may scuff the surface. Design and colour may vary.
