The Romain rug combines luxurious materials with artisan craftsmanship and is inspired by traditional knits made by skilled weavers in northern India. Each Romain rug is created from custom dyed Indian wool creating colour stories unique to individual pieces. The Journey:

Where

  • Freedom’s handmade rugs are produced in Haryana, a state in northern India known for its rich cultural heritage

Who

  • The majority of the workers are local to the area and taught to weave from a young age by family members who have learned the skill through generations
  • The factory is a family owned business and has been in existence for over 40 years

What

  • Freedom rugs are made from a mixture of undyed Indian wool which is sourced locally before being woven with durable and luxurious viscose, giving each piece a plush feel under foot

How

  • The process of dying and drying the fibres takes a total of 2-4 days, due to the artisan nature of each piece however, the entire production process from start to finish can take weeks!!!
  • Freedom buyers visit the factories twice a year to view the latest fibre technology and production processes

The Journey:

Where

  • The aluminium Freedom homewares are produced in Uttar Pradesh, the home state to the infamous Taj Mahal in India

Who

  • Over 100 skilled workers produce each Eloise Vessel by hand in a family owned factory
  • Workers come from surrounding states to learn the skilful process taught in the factory

What

  • Locally sourced aluminium is heated, moulded and treated over the course of approximately 8 hours to create each unique vessel  

How

  • The texture and shape of each Eloise Vessel is expertly hand crafted by our skilled producers meaning that no two vessels are ever the same
